Empowering Children, Teens, and Families to Heal and Thrive
If your child is struggling with big feelings, navigating a difficult transition, or trying to figure out who they are in this world, I want you to know: you’re not failing them by seeking help. You’re fighting for them.

I’m Dr. Erica Tatum-Sheade, and I’ve spent over 20 years helping young people find their footing through anxiety, identity questions, family upheaval, and the everyday hard stuff that doesn’t always have a name. As a mom of three who’s actively navigating the tween and teen years myself, I know how it feels to watch your child struggle and wonder if you’re doing enough.
You are.

My approach centers on play — not because it’s cute, but because it’s how kids communicate what they can’t yet put into words. Whether I’m on the floor with a 6-year-old or across from a teenager who’d rather be anywhere else, I meet young people where they are with warmth, honesty, and creativity. Sessions with me might include games, art, movement, or storytelling — whatever helps your child feel safe enough to open up.

I’m direct with parents too. I’ll tell you what I’m seeing, collaborate with you on what’s working, and help you build connection with your kid even when it feels impossible.

I integrate Adlerian theory, attachment-focused care, and trauma-informed practices into every session. My style is warm, direct, creative, and collaborative. Therapy with me often includes expressive play, movement, and storytelling, tools that help kids process their experiences and discover their own inner strengths.
